Fatehpur Sikri is a ancient Mogul city in northern India, just west of Agra, founded by a 16th-century Mughal emperor. It is a complex of Red sandstone buildings.
Fatehpur Sikri is located in the Agra District of Uttar Pradesh, India. The city was founded in 1569 by the Mughal Emperor Akbar,and served as the capital of the Mughal Empire from 1571 to 1585, when it was abandoned. After his military victories, Akbar decided to shift his capital to Agra about 40km's away

The Panch Mahal,meaning wind catcher tower was used for entertainment and relaxation. It is an extraordinary buildingis inspired by Buddhist Temple design; with 176 columns, set over 4 stories, 84 columns.on the ground floor. In the ridiculous Indian heat you walk into this building and cool air greets you..
Fatehpur Sikri is one of the best preserved examples of Mughal architecture in India.
Unfortunately most people dont visit this amazing complex on visits to the Taj Mahal in Agra just an hours drive away because it is breathtaking.
