safdarjungs tomb

Safdarjungs tomb

This is an incredible monument in Delhi that's not one of Delhi's most famous monuments but when you first see it you will think wow, wow wow.

It is a monument that really requires some serious restoration but when your a city like Delhi with so many amazing Monuments and the all need Restoration. I guess the challenge is great.

Safdarjungs tomb has extensive Gardens and nobody really uses them, it is a place to go to get away from everything, unlike most other Monuments in Delhi, Safdarjungs Tomb sees very little foot traffic.

You have free monuments in Lodhi Gardens and Hauz Khas close by which are very busy for a small fee its a great place to find a quite spot to sit under a tree read a book or just enjoy a bit of peace.

Safdarjung's Tomb is made of Red sandstone and marble, It was built in 1754 in the late Mughal Empire style for the statesman Safdarjung.

The monument has an ambiance of spaciousness and an imposing presence with its domed and arched red brown and white coloured structures.

Safdarjung was made prime minister of the Mughal Empire (Wazir ul-Mamlak-i-Hindustan) when Ahmad Shah Bahadur ascended the throne in 1748.

He must have gone alright as Prime Minster because after he died not only did he get a big Tomb he also has a hospital, airport and Rather large suburb named after him.
If you go to this Tomb it is a restoration in Progress little bits of work are happening everywhere around this monument,

For those who like to cycle Kiama is a wonderful place, Kiama is a major coastal town about 120 kilometres south of Sydney. Its most famous for the Kiama Blowhole. Around Kiama are some famous surfing beaches and it has a variety of motels and caravan parks that become overloaded in january, it also has plenty of Dining options, Pubs, coffee shops and tourist shopping and a shopping complex.
My father and I choose a small Motel which was cheap and basic. Dropped off our stuff and rode first around the show ground which is used for carnivals football games it is right on the coast and i wish a carnival was on because what a spectacular venue. We then up to the world famous blow hole which is just a hole in the rock that water sprays up though, the bigger the waves and the higher the tide the more spectacular and around the light house which has some majestic coastal views. The main drag which runs around a small harbour is lined with pine trees and if you have food the seagulls and pelicans will not be far away. I personally love pelicans I think they are such a Beautiful bird and they are always a favorite sight when visiting any Coastal town in New south wales.
The main street is filled with small restaurants hip cafes, fish and chip shops and the town also has some Beautiful old historic buildings.
The Fire station especially caught my Eye, But you also have a Beautiful old Courthouse and city hall.
The main street has a real old style country feel and walking or riding around the town feels very relaxed. In Late December and January Kiama becomes overloaded with holiday makers and that relaxed feeling turns into more hustle and Bustle but if you choose February or march to visit it is a lot more relaxed. Kiama has a few massive Caravan and cabin parks which I must say are in stunning locations up on headlands, with a short walk down to Kiama Beach.

The Beaches are not very big and in Kiama they are not great for surfers however you have the Bone Yard about 5kms up the coast which is one of the best surfing beaches on the south coast of New South Wales Australia, You you like waves that are more washing machine style then Kiama beach is great fun. in the harbour you also have a beach as well as a rock pool which is very nice for small kids.
I was on a cycling trip and Kiama was full of Cycling paths and is a wonderful relaxing place to go cycling.

Cavelossim Beach South Goa

Cavelossim Beach South Goa

I was told the Beaches in Goa where clean and the cleanest in Goa was Cavelossim Beach the sand is resonably clean but the water is most definitely not.
If what you are looking for is a long romantic walk down the beach  Cavelossim Beach is perfect its very long and very wide around the hotels you have lots of dodgy restaurant bars selling cold beers, wines and a wide variety of seafood dishes but once you get away from the hotels its pretty peaceful

Beach.
The beach is lined with coconut trees has next to no surf.
A lot of packs of dogs roam the beach and we witness a pack of dogs chasing one dog into the water and not letting it escape.
If your after a real pristine beach then Sri Lanka is a better option.
If you want to spend large amounts of time in the Ocean then this is definitely not a great option, this is a beach for a long leisurely stroll whilst stopping for the occasional refreshment maybe even lunch expect your walk to take at least 3 to 4 hours return unfortunately I didn't see many shells so don't expect to add to your shell collection, you will not see many people once you are away from hotels so take your camera and get some nice romantic photo's take a walk in the water occasionally i just wouldn't stick my head in the water because I don't have a lot of faith in brown water being clean even if all the hotel staff assured me it was safe.
